For spouses of Chinese citizens or of aliens having obtained permanent residence in China, whose marriage has lasted for five years, and who have lived in mainland for five years in a row, the annual stay here being no shorter than nine months, and who have stable and secured living status and place to live.

So it is okay for you to go back to your home country as long as your total stay is longer than 9 months.

I am a spousal visa holder and it was stated that I’m not allowed to work. It is necessary and required to have my own huge amount money in the bank?one of required items to get the permanent residence permit? I live a comfortable home but not that good source of income. I only depend on my husband. Is this can affect my legalization to be a permanent residence in China. And what are the requirements to bring or needed for applying permanent residence. Thank you waiting for your response. And have a good day.

There is no requirement on how much money you have to get a spouse permanent residence permit. The basic requirements include your marriage certificate, passport, previous visas, living address, husband's ID card. The immigration staff may ask for more case by case. One more thing to know is that it is not an easy thing to get the permanent residence permit even if you submit all the requirements. Anyway, good luck with you~

Well, if you don't meet the above requirements, you still cannot apply for the permanent residence permit.

the 5 years quoted for permanent residence, I lived in China for 10 years up to 2021.
I have 10 years of working residence from 2011 to 2021, left China Jan 2021 and did not return until Nov 2023.
Am I still eligible for application of permanent residence as although I have 10 years full time residence in China with 8 years married to Chinese girl, will the 2 years out of China affect my application. I was unable to return to China due to Covid and Chinese visa regulations.

Well, it is hard to say but it may affect a little. It is better to confirm with Chinese National Immigration Administration.

I would like to obtain a longer residence permit.
There is too much to say here and saying it in few words would leave too much unsaid. My name is Jon Metzinger, and I am currently 63 years old. I am a graduate of the University of Southern California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), having majored in the Global Economy. I live in California USA currently. I lived in China for 4 years (Nov 2017-Nov 2021). 2 years in the City of Shenzhen and 2 years in the city of Huangshan/Tunxi. As mentioned above, I have a long story to tell. Sadly, there is not enough room here to do it. Briefly...I would like to live quietly (draw pictures, paint, and occasionally visit family members and friends) in the city of Huangshan/Tunxi and be near the grave of the woman I loved and preform for her all the traditional duties required of family members. Is this possible?
Thank you.

Sorry, but it's not an easy thing. However, as you have lived in China for 4 years, you may try to obtain a multiple-entry 10-year China visa. The thing is you still need to leave China, maybe to HK every time the duration of stay is drawing to an end. This is currently the easiest solution I can think out.

New Green Card Rules Question
China has changed its green card rules. Now a person with a PhD, without any other requirement is eligible. My question is which subject type of PhD is necessary? Can any field of study qualify?

This policy is generally eligible for foreign Chinese. And three requirements are must: certificate of foreign Chinese, proof of work in China, Chinese residence of not less than 6 months per year. There is no limit of subject type of PhD or study field.
