Hello, im having trouble making my psvita work: it wont turn on in any way; i've tried completely tearing it down and putting it back together i was wondering what i could do to fix this problem. I pretty much gave up so should i replace it? , and do i need to give it to them disassembled to replace it, THANKS! Finally how much will it cost?
Hello. I was playing a game for about two weeks. I closed the game because I wanted to try a demo. When I try opening the game again, it started showing errors that it cannot open the game, cannot install the game or game cart cannot be open or please attached game even though I can see the game icon in the home screen. I just want to ask if this is a problem with the cart or with the console? After sometime, it returned back to normal but my save file became corrupted and have to start over again. Thanks.
Was Wondering if i i have 2 days on playstation plus remaining and im only half way done with gravity rush "ps plus game" will the vita give me the option in the ps store to purchase the game and continue with my save file when the sub runs out ? or will it make me download a new game app and force me to buy ps plus a month just to get the save from the cloud nvm i figured out how to do this using a pc and copying save data file./ pasting into the newly purchased game
Hi. Is there are hardware difference between the old and the slim vita, in terms of cpu and graphics chip. Will there be a framerate difference, or is the difference basically just screen and size?
OK, I found the answer at [1]
All of a sudden my vita keeps telling me to insert a memory card, yet for almost a year or so it has had one installed in it! So why now so of a sudden and out of the blue it is giving me this obvious error. So could someone help me out here, cuz it will no longer let me do anything with it? And I cannot find a reason anywhere regarding this issue of mine.
Well was wondering if it was possible to pre order a digital download only 'ps vita games?
Hi, I was wondering if it was ever possible that there would be a ps2 section of the ps vita marketplace?
Hi there.
I got update 2.00, I uploaded my backup to the cloud, I then changed out my memory stick from a 4 gig to an 8 gig to have some room for the PS+ freebies !
Unfortunately when I tried to download from the cloud back up to my new memory card I got all sorts of error messages, and it hasn`t transferred my game saves, or apps like Facebook or Netflix.
Did I do something wrong, or is the cloud storage just not suitable for backups to a new memory stick ?
Many thanks
stulec52
I bought the physical copy of Golden Abyss. Now it's going to be a free digital dowload since I'm a plus subscriber. Since I already own the game, if I download the digital version, and then quit being a plus subscriber, will I be allowed to keep the Digital version?
Hi, after the last update my Ps vita Stopped showing my music files and even if i try to add more music it won't appear. What should I do to fix this?
Hi, my PS Vita won't delete its notifications when I press the delete button. What should I do?
Hi, there is a problem with my ps vita, when i turn it on the blue light comes on but the screen still stays black.I try holding the power for 50 secs but still not working. When i slide my finger across the top right corner of the (black screen) you could still hear the menu sound. what should i do?
Hello, I'm just wondering if I can chat to my PS3 friends from my PS Vita. You can't currently but you can still message. (millsjonah)
Hey, I was wondering if you could copy your games from your PS Vita, to your PC, make a new PS Network account, and then copy the game to your PS Vita with your new account. (mrH9000) Don't do this. It is called gamesharing and can get you banned. (millsjonah)
Hi, I was just wondering if you were downloading a game off the PS Store and the PS Vita ran out of battery and you were going someplace the next day with no wi-fi (in my case, boarding school) will the download resume without having to use any internet? (my charger is at the boarding school). You need wi-fi. (millsjonah)
Hello. I have two accounts but I want to buy a new memory card so i can have my other account on it. If I backup all of the save data from this memory card onto a PC and then download it to the new memory card will the save data work with the other account and will the trophy data be put on the other account? (DogG6) The trophies will not transfer. (millsjonah)
Hi! I wanted to buy a 3G/WIFi Vita. If I buy it in the US, is the 3G going to work in Mexico? Yes but you need to pay extra. (millsjonah)
I've been wondering if I can zoom using the camera/recording function. If not, can't they have an update for that? (jmend12) It can't currently but Sony could add it down the road. Keep in mind, however, that if you do zoom it will reduce quality. (millsjonah)
Hi! I have some problems with the Vita. One, I managed to import a PSP game properly, it's working and all. But whenever I press the Home button to do other stuff and get back to the game I get a message saying that the update data for this application has been downloaded, and if I want to close the app for the update to be installed. I did OK it once, but everytime I go out the game screen, and go back and continue I keep getting that prompt. I can always press cancel but is there no workaround to that? I'm not sure what update data it keeps talking about. I even backed up my game, deleted it from the Vita and copied it back but I get the same thing.
Another thing, when I make the Vita go into standby/sleep. Usually after 5-10 seconds the Home button blinks repeatedly before disappearing again. Is that normal? What does that mean?
Thanks! (mgpestipona)
The blinking is normal. In regards to your update data problem the update date is the software update for that game. I can only think of one possible solution and that is to delete everything for that specific game except for your save file and if that doesn't work deleting the game itself and redownloading it. I have contacted Sony for your problem and i will post back if i get a different answer. (millsjonah)
Update: I have contacted Sony and they did not have an answer. (millsjonah)
I have a problem. My Vita buttons aren't working. The only ones that work are the power, volume and home buttons. The other buttons only work when I'm in safe mode, but when I'm in a game it doesnt work. Could somebody help me and is anybody else having this problem? (Alfguy) You definitely have a defective unit. What you should do is go to https://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=3761 and follow the steps. This will be free since you have a 1-year warranty with each Vita. (millsjonah)
I was thinking of buying Assassin's Creed Bloodlines on the Vita, but was wondering if for that game you could remap the camera to the right analog stick? Thanks! (Falcon-X32) You can remap it to the right stick. (millsjonah)
My Vita got restored somehow, and I wanna know how to bring all my games back onto it. All my data and my memory stick was inside of it too. if they're downloaded you can download it again at no cost. Formatting they system and memory card are different things so you should be fine unless you did both. (millsjonah)
Is it possible for you to change your Vita's name? Like in the PS3 you have the option to change your system's name. It would be weird to see it named "Playstation Vita" when bluetooth devices detect it. Also, is it possible to transfer data via Bluetooth? i.e. I'd copy a photo I took from my phone onto my Vita. (tupasheep)
I've heard that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 DLC purchases for the PS3 version, provided you use the same PSN account, can also be used for the Vita version as well. Is there any truth to this? And on a related note, is there some sort of list that indicates which one-time purchases work for PS3 and the Vita? i.e., if Game A is available on the PSN for both Vita and PS3, and you buy it once, that would mean you have both versions etc? (teddyboy09) The dlc will work for both. And if you go to PS VITA games then cross compatible game it will show you the ps3 and vita games but you will have to download PS3 and vita version seperately. The full list of announced of cross platform games is https://www.ign.com/wikis/ps-vita/Vita_and_PS3_games_bundled (millsjonah)
So, are they going to sell vita games as redeemable codes (for example, I go to gamestop, where I'll buy a card with a code that I'll use to redeem a game on PSN)? If so, can I buy it in USA, but redem it on my UK account? (Hermanny) You can not buy codes for vita games in the gamestop store but you can buy PSN cards which will add funds to your account in stores. You can however buy game codes on gamestop.com for some games. And US codes will not work for UK. If you want to add funds to your UK account and live in the US you can order cards off of amazon.co.uk or just buy physical copies. Hope this helps. (millsjonah)
Hello. Could the ps vita go online like the playstation 3. For example playing little big planet with your friends online?(mad902) You can play vita and PS3 but it is most likely only for user levels because they probably won't have the same levels (millsjonah)
'Can i change ONLY the ac power cord fot the ps vita? not the adaptor, cuz it's not compatible in my country'. (Akio27) You can switch out the power plug as long as you find one with the right output. (millsjonah)
Hey! I was wondering if I buy Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on my Vita, how will I get the PS3 copy? And, is it the full game for both Vita and PS3 for one price, or is it just to share saves? (tito9114) Once you download the PS3 or Vita version you will be able to download the other one for free. To do that once you download the vita version the PS3 umvc3 will be marked for free. (millsjonah)
I believe the real answer to this is you dont get a ps3 copy of UMvC3. the onyl stuff you can get fro free is DLC that you have previously purchased (narneko)
Hello! I just wanted to know if you can buy the 3g/wifi bundle from gamestop two days after launch. It's confusing because its called the "Launch Bundle." So can I?
You should be able to buy as long as they are in stock. (millsjonah)
'Hi Greg! I have an imported Japanese vita and Japanese PSN account with my Japanese credit card attached. I've been trying to download games from Japanese PSN, but it's not working. Can I download games from Japanese PSN in the US?'Thank you so much for your help!:) (Creme Brulee)
Can you give me the error number if there is one because you should be able to. Try downloading something small like a theme or avatar because it just might be too big to do so far away from the jp servers. But you can also use the US PSN store on the JP vita if you are using a US psn account(millsjonah)
The error number is NP-2244-2. I can only download small contents like a demo or a theme. I know I can use US PSN store but the game I want to download is only available on Japense PSN store... Do you know how to download big contents like games from the Japanese servers? Thanks again! (Creme Brulee)
The error you are having is the result of incorrect credit card information so you should double check it. A lot of others users are having the same problem because there is an error is on Sony's end. (millsjonah)
What would be the best thing to do for the battery when using the Vita for the first time? I know batteries have improved a lot in this, but some sites still think it's best to fully charge it and then turn it on, whereas others contradict this by letting it fully decharge on first use. Does this matter in the Vita's case, as the official online manual does not mention any of this? Thanks, (Eovib) The charge cycle which is fully depleting the battery only affects nickel batteries not lithium so you should not do that. So it doesn't matter if you fully decharge the battery. (millsjonah)
My question is what format do any psn games/minis that can be transferred to the vita need to be in.. installed to the ps3 or in the freshly downloaded bubble format.(Drazius)
I have an Import Japanese PS Vita, I'm able to connect to my US PS3 using my PSN ID and transfer Photos, Music, and Videos, But When I try to transfer PSP games it says "There are no content items". i watched Greg's video on how to transfer PSP games from PS3(MGS peace Walker) and I still get same message. Why is that? is it because i have a japanese system? (Geonosis_Clone38). Just make sure you are using your US PSN account. If you are using your US psn account and it isn't working many other users are experiencing the same problem and sony is working on the issue. (millsjonah)
One feature that I liked about the PSP was that when it was turned off, whatever you were doing could be continued whenver it was turned back on. Will the Vita have the same function? (Ironman1575)
Many places say that the vita is going to be able to remote play all PS3 games but just as many say that it wont remote play any. Which one is correct? (SLKJR) Well it depends on the game itself because some might support it and some might not.(millsjonah)
Any idea if PSN titles like Outland and LIMBO can be transfered to the PS Vita and played. Or if this might be implemented in the future.(mgschris1987) Nope PS3 and vita games are different but some Vita and PS3 games will come bundled together when you buy the PS3 or Vita version. However they might be remote playable. (millsjonah)
As a Psp owner i've noticed that i couldnt open a few sites due to memory problems. Does the Vita have enough "memory" to open up the majority of sites. For example if i could open 70% of sites with my psp what percentage of sites could i open with the vita. Im fully aware that the vita is a gaming device and the browser isnt a main focus but i was curious to see if there have been any major changes to the "not enough memory issue.(narneko) The PS Vita has more RAM than the PS3 so it should do better in terms of memory issues. But Playstation doesn't optimize their browsers that well so it might not even take advantage of the extra memory. Hope this helps. (millsjonah)
The PSPGo had a very useful function where you could press the home button and select "pause game", your game would then get saved/paused in the system's memory. And when your battery died, it used that function to save your game just before it shut itself down, so you would never really lose your progress. I doubt the Vita has the same function due to the lack of having internal memory of it's own? Or does it? Thanks! (Eovib) It would be possible because it could save on the game card or memory card. But it has not been said if the feature is actually available. (millsjonah)
Can I redownload the games I purchase fom psn if I delete them from my memory card?(Dragon24680) Yes you can redownload them from the store again. (millsjonah)
Hi I have a question,Could you Transfer Saved data on a PC that you put on from the vita and put that saved data into another vita?(Mr.Smackalot)
Ever since IGN announced PS Vita games being available for download, I have checked everyday on the PSN via my 60GB PS3 and have only found WipEout 2048 available. Any idea why I can't find any other Vita games supposebly available for download? Is it my PS3? Or do I have to update it again (already up to date)? (gh0st-23) You will have to search for the games seperately because as of now, you can't find them categorized. For example search golden abyss, or super stardust delta and they will show up.(millsjonah)
Hello, just picked up my first edition today...was mostly excited for the remote play feature so I can finish some of my single player games on the go. Any idea when they'll be available? (Alkalin43)
Hello, question about the store and Vita, On the psn store the game Dungeon Hunter Alliance is around £7.20 ish. Yet the cartridge version is £30. Could i simply buy the copy on psn and transfer it to the vita? (Bingo_MacFeegle) If you mean buy the cartridge version and transfer it digitally, you can't because if you could it would be digital pirates best dream. If you mean something else could you clarify? (millsjonah)
Hello. Quick question. Is it possible to transfer ps1 games to the Vita. I tried transferring stuff from my Ps3 and it only let me transfer some of my psp games. I dont know why it didnt transfer all of my PSP games either.(Spazzfx) Right now there are transfering problems with the vita so I would wait for an update or a fix. But you should be able to. (millsjonah)
Can I use my US account on my PS3, buy Vita games, then switch back to my EU one and transfer them to my Vita which will hold my EU account via USB? In the same way you can buy a PS3 game off the US store then switch to a EU one and play said game on that account....
Thanks in advance,
(yairdonin)
Downloaded games are tied to the account they are purchased on so you can only play them on the U.S. account. (millsjonah)
I hope I have put this in the write place...are the vita games sold in the EU multi-language?...If I buy a vita game in Germany will I be able to play it in English? (pmcgaw) It depends on the game. Because some games will have more than 1 language but some might only be in german. (millsjonah)
Can I just download my online purchased psp-go games onto the vita, or is there some conversion process I have to go through? (pmcgaw) If you have downloaded it you can just go to your download list or search for it and you can download it free. (millsjonah)
Will the UK get the UMD Transfer Program? (Henry Francis) SCEE has not confirmed yet whether the Passport program will come to Europe or not. (millsjonah)
How much memory should I get if I am going to use it a lot, but still need a cheap card? (gamer4f3b0018aa377) Well the 8GB card would hold up to at the most 4 vita games for 35 U.S. dollars. And the 16 gb card you for 60 U.S. dollars will give you up to around 8 games. The 4gb wouldn't hold more than 2 games because it is the cheapest at 25 bucks. But if you were willing to spend $100 the 32gb could hold up to 16 games. So if i were you I would go with the 16 gigabyte. (millsjonah)
Will I be able to transfer a Ps vita game from my Ps3 to 2 seperate vitas that are using 2 different accounts. (Topgearsam) No because games are tied to the account they are purchased on. But you could swap out physical games as long you have different game memory cards and format cartridge. (millsjonah)
I tried to copy my purchased minis and ps1 games to my vita and none of them work. when i downloaded using my vita, they (minis) just installed and when i run them, they give an error (C1-2858-3). Same when i install using my Ps3. Then I tried installing PS1 games since i saw Greg's video. I re-downloaded the PS1 (RE1 and Syphon filter 2) game then when i tried to install, the Vita does not detect it. it just sees the minis. (i must run) and not even the other minis (where is my heart). Please help. (seraph973)
How well does the Vita play psp games? Does lose frames or stop sometimes? Does the upscaling and bilinear fliltering really make psp games look better then what they looked like on the psp? If possible, could you answer it specifically on Dissida 012 Final Fantasy? (mishlc)
Will Magic:The Gathering 2012 be compatible on the PS Vita? I've tried to look everywhere for an answer and thought maybe you guys would know or could try it since you guys have Vitas. (ForbidYourWays) ==
Greg, now that you have the American Vita, does remote play appear to work any better? (dmlash123abc)
Say I’m playing wipeout and i earn some trophies. Then my brother wants to play wipeout on his vita with his psn account can he earn trophies also?
P.S. No one has been able to answer this question for me.
Yes he can earn trophies also but only one person can be logged in at a time so whoever is playing signed out will have to sync their trophies when they can sign back in. (millsjonah)
Pardon me millsjonah, but I'd like to cut in. I believe the answer is actually "No". This is based off of experiance with multiple games. My friend and I each have our own vitas and psn accounts and when we tested out each others games(in this case mortal kombat) we found that only the first and original owner of the game was able to recieve trophies. Not only did no trophies appear, a notification in the corner stated something like "you will not be able to earn trophies" Unless (millsjonah) youve had experiance with it working im pretty sure the correct andswer to the question is "No" (narneko)
Does the vita come with a memory card? No it does not come with a memory card unless you buy the first edition bundle. (millsjonah)
I have a question, do I need a chip from at&t to enable 3g or a regular memory chip? How do I enable 3g? Yes you need an ATT sim card but it will come with the 3G vita. And there will be an option on the vita to enable the 3G that you can use whenever the sim card is in. (millsjonah)
Hey Greg I know that Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Blazblue both have online modes... I was wondering if you knew of any other games with online play... thanks!! (Heilleg) Fifa 12, Hot Shots, Reality Fighters, Wipeout 2048, Army corps of Hell, Dungeon hunter, Hustle Kings, Shinobido, and dynasty warriors. (millsjonah)
Hi Greg!!!!!! I was wondering how do the dual analog sticks feel. Like if you were playing Uncharted Golden Abyss, does it feel natural. Or do you have to get used to it.
It felt natural to me. If you want to try it yourself call the gamestops around you to see if they have a demo unit because that is where I tried it. (millsjonah)
So I have a follow up question: Does the Vita support M4P or only MP3 format? (larshoneytoast)
It supports MP3 and mp4 (millsjonah)
Hello Greg, BEYOND!!!
I wanted to know if I could buy games from psn store of other territories using credit cards of a different territory?
You can only use a credit card of your territory. So you could not use a hong kong credit card on the U.S. psn store and vice versa. But if you're asking about using say a japan credit card on the japan PSN store and you are in the U.S. then you can. Basically the regions have to match.(millsjonah)
I was wonder can you use the ps Vita to chat with ps3 users or no? (lukas200)
Currently game on an xbox. Blown away by the Vita and feeling nostalgic about the ps1 and 2. Worth it to take the gamble of selling my xbox to buy a Vita and ps3 and ONLY buy downloadable games via my ps3 and in turn game out at home and away via remote play? Or is there an overall vibe that A) The lag issues will kill the idea. and B) Not every downloadable game will be remote play'able (Kevin) The lag is evident but there are some games likeMotorstorm RC, Hustle Kings, Top Darts, WipEout HD and HD Fury DLC for WipEout 2048 and Capcom's, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 which will give you ps3 and vita version if you download. There will sure be more to follow. (millsjonah)
So I understand that the Vita will be able to play music. I want to know if all my music from my iTunes library can be downloaded to the Vita. Note: I have tried putting music on my ps3 from my itunes library and most of the songs were playable and the others came up as "unsupported data". Also note that this was done by using a flashdrive. Do you think this will happen with the Vita? What does "unsupported data" mean? Are there alternative ways to download all my music to the Vita so its all playable? What do you suggest is the best way? thanks for all the help I really appreciate it! (larshoneytoast33)
You can play your iTunes music on the Vita if you convert the songs to an mp3 file. You can dowload free software to do it. https://lp.koyotesoft.com/?sysid=410&appid=100&cid=[[2]] is a good one to download. (millsjonah)
If my PSN account is US, and I get an Asia region game with a free DLC code or online pass, does that mean I can't activate said code/s because I can only use one PSN account? I'd want to say I'd just wait until I get a US region game everytime but here in the Philippines we get either US or Asia region depending on what the stores get so we'd have to live with that everytime. Redeeming on the PS3 isn't really difficult as we have multiple accounts and after redemption on a sub-account I can go back to my main and play from there because I want my trophies in one account. Thanks! (tupasheep)
Right now the fastest internet connection I can get on is wired only (and not a location where I can take my PS3), so I currently use my laptop to purchase and download PSP games and then transfer them to my PSP; can I do that with the new Content Manager application, or at all? (AngelE)
Yes you can do that with content manager. (millsjonah)
For an added bonus for pre-ordering the first edition bundle, I get a $20 discount on a second purchase of any game product. I don't know if I should get the PS Vita in-ear headphones or the PS Vita cradle, both ate $20 so will get it for free. I currently only have the regular apple headphones and I don't know if those will offer great sound quality for PS Vita games.
Regular Apple headphones should do fine for sound, but I am unsure if the microphone will function with the PS Vita. I would go with the cradle or use it to get $20 off another game (Kchow21).
I don't have the Apple headphones with the microphone and they are over 2 years old. I don't want to pre-order any games because Futureshop doesn't have all launch titles so I'm going to pick up my games in store after the 22nd. So it's either the cradle or in-ear headset.
I would go with the in-ear headphones if you are going to be gaming on it because it will improve the audio quality. If you will be watching movies on it at home choose the cradle. (millsjonah)
Well, those Apple headphones are still pretty good and the PS Vita has a built-in mic making them a bit of a luxury. I still say use the $20 on a game and I believe that you don't have to use it right away, so you could just wait until the game you want is being sold (Kchow21).
I just watched the video about switching between memory cards in order to switch PSN accounts. I was wondering, if one wishes to switch memory cards but use the same account, does one have to go through the same process or can one simply switch the memory cards without having to restore the Vita to factory settings? I suppose a prior question would also concern whether it is even possible to use the same account on multiple memory cards.Thanks. (dmlash123abc)
If you are keeping the same PSN account then you don't have to go through that whole process and it becomes just a matter of switching memory cards without formatting (KChow21).
You can swap out cards without formatting. (millsjonah)
Follow-up Question: My second device is my PS3. Would each memory card count as a "new device" or would that just be the Vita itself? That would stink if, because of my PS3, I had to deactivate one memory card in order to activate the other. (dmlash123abc)
It would read the Vita not the memory card as the device. (millsjonah)
It would just read the PS Vita itself, but will know the content that is inside it (Kchow21).
Right now I have the 16GB memory card reserved but plan on getting the 32GB. How would I transfer my saves, games, music, etc. to the 32GB memory card? (ForbidYourWays)
You would have to insert 16gb card into Vita transfer data to Mac. pc or ps3. Put in 32gb card and transfer data to Vita. (millsjonah)
You just need to transfer your data from your PS Vita to a Mac, PC or PS3 and then transfer it to your 32GB memory card (Kchow21).
I'm not sure if this has been answered yet, however, I would like to know if the PS Vita is able to play PS1 Classics from the PS Store. I know the PSP could. I've been hearing mixed rumors on the internet but I thought checking here would be the best place to ask! Thanks guys! (larshoneytoast33)
The PS Vita will be able to play PS1 games, but it may not be at launch (Kchow21).
FOLLOW UP Question: So can they play the same game at the same time? -- Just not against each other or against other players online? Would there be any other negatives to this approach? -- At six and ten, they are not really concerned about their trophy count, just their game progress.
Yeah, they can play the game at the same time, but only one of them would be logged in the PSN account. If they don't mind anything but game progress then there is no other negatives to this approach. (KChow21).
I have two boys that will each have their own PS Vita. They will both be using the same Master PSN account so that we can purchase downloadable games once and they will both be able to download them on their own PS Vita (2 system limit.) I still have questions though, and Playstation technical support has provided me with conflicting answers. Can they both be online at the same time? Will they both be able to play the same game at the same time? Will their game saves be independent of one another? I assume their trophy collecting will be cumulative even though their progress on any given game may be at different points on their respective systems, correct? (ksmo)
No, they can't be both online at the same time by using a single master account. They can play the same game just not be online at the same time but that doesn't mean they can't play the games. Yes, their saves are independent from each other, but their trophy count aren't. (Kchow21)
Will there be versions of PS3 games released so you can just load them into your PS Vita and play them without any connectivity ? If i buy a game for my Vita will i automatically be able to play it on my PS3 ? (ildebrandob)
Games like Motorstorm RC,will give you both PS3 and PS Vita copies over PSN which allow you to play on both systems. However, not many games at this point are supporting this and you have to download it on both (won't do it automatically) (Kchow21).
Is there a option on the Vita to only use the button controls, instead of constantly dirtying up the screen? (kenren01)
No, but it isn't hard to clean up smudges or fingerprints with a cloth (Kchow21).
I imported a Japanese PS Vita and it's been dying on me a lot. Everytime I turn it off (with no Wifi or Apps running) it will eventually die. Does the PS Vita's battery drain even while it's off? Am I doing something wrong? (Fireproof438)
No, it should not be draining while it's completely off, but if it's on standby mode then it will still drain the battery to a lesser extend (Kchow21)
It sounds like you have just been locking it so you should try to turn it off completely. (millsjonah).
What is the average size of save files for PS Vita games, apps, etc.? (K_U_F)
Well, most game box arts say that they require than 70 mb and some are as small as 5 mb. However, I dont know how big the apps are, but you should be fine with a 4GB stick if you dont want to spend too much on memory cards (Kchow21).
How does the PS Vita handle PSP games? For instance can I use the second analog stick to aim in Resistance Retribution? (HoldenDee)
Yes you can remap face buttons to the right stick if you want to, or you could remap the d-pad or left stick to your right stick as well (Kchow21).
You'll be able to remap either the D-Pad, the face buttons or the left analogue stick to the right one. (BlueMaxima)
Will the PS Vita eventually support YouTube or get a YouTube app? If yes, when will it be available? I hope sometime shortly after launch. (JackKauff)
It is possible that may happen at some point, but Sony has yet to speak about a Youtube app, but there will be Netflix support. However, they want to patch their browser to better support HTML5 and possibly Flash, so you could just watch it through the browser if it is patched (Kchow21).
Is the PS Vita good enough to be used as a home console because I have no need to play games on the go. I currently have a PS3 which I love gaming on so I'm not quite sure if the PS Vita is worth getting in my situation. (MikeHawk)
It is meant to work alongside the PS3 since you can use Remote play or transfer your saves from your PS3 and play them on the go. I dont think the PS Vita is meant to replace home consoles aside from the fact that it can compete with them graphically (Kchow21).
I recently dropped and completely cracked my 4th generation iPod touch and now I'm debating if I should buy another iPod touch, a PS Vita or wait for the new iPod touch in September. I love gaming on my PS3 so I'm really interested in the Vita. However, I love the functionality of the iPod touch. Can the PS Vita be a replacement to the iPod touch? For example, does the browser, music and video app on the Vita work just as good as on the iPod touch? (John Appleseed).
If you used your iPhone for browsing, movies and not gaming then it wouldn't be a great replacement. The PS Vita is primarily for games, it has good music and video apps, but the browser is not as good as smartphones (Kchow21)
The music and video app are just as good but the browser sucks. (millsjonah)
Can I use one Memory Card with different accounts if I delete it? (GutekZ)
Edit: I meant if I format the Memory Card. (GutekZ)
If you back-up your data (can be done on PS3) and format the stick it shouldn't cause any issues, so yes, it's possible provided you format the stick. (ro-kurorai)
Will the US Playstation Store be updated on Feb. 15 with all the digital copies of Vita games? I'm getting my first edition Vita on the 15th and want to download all my games but don't want to have to wait till the 22nd. (Mord-Trist)
I wouldn't hold my breath. Feb, 22nd is more likely. (ro-kurorai)
On the Official Playstation Blogcast, one of the guys said that the store will have a good amount of the titles available after the Feb 14th update, but the actual Vita section of the store won't show up until the 22nd. So in order to download Vita games after the 14th's update pre-launch, you have to use the search option in the PSN store. (Jonyblayze)
For games like Mod Nation, where you can only race over AdHoc, will Vita be compatible with the PS3's "PSP AdHoc Party" app? I'd love to be able to do some racing with PSN friends across the country. (Vrank92)
Yes, Ad-hoc party will be compatible for PSP games on PS Vita. However, I doubt that it will function with PS Vita games since you can create your own party through the party app. (Kchow21)
I tweeted Shuhei Yoshida about 5 GHz wifi and he say's it only supports 1 channel, which would be 2.4GHz? You could have someone physically check if it can accept 5Ghz though. (MUGEN2002)
Does the microphone from standard headphones (iPhone, Sony headphones, etc) work when plugged into a PS Vita (NHDrumline17)
From Sony: Commercially available Bluetooth headsets will work, however, it may function differently depending on the device specifications.
That's the answer they gave for headset/headphones. Though, I don't see why it wouldn't work, but it is certainly something that hardly anyone has tested. And the PS Vita has a built-in mic aside from offering their own headsets for a reasonable price.
I was wondering, i'm a 360 owner but the ps Vita looks amazing and i plan to buy one. However i Don't own a ps3 so would it be worth me getting a ps Vita. i do plan to get a ps3 but in a couple months after the ps Vita is released. (gilbear14)
The reason to own both PS3 and PS Vita are remote play and transferring saves. But, if you want a portable that can do console quality games then go for it (Kchow21).
I think that it will be my last questions, and then I will finally close my decisions: Will the US 3G version be sold in Hong Kong after the US launch, and do you think that the launch bundles will be there too? (VinerzZ)
No idea, ask a local store, but you could always import a PS Vita. (Kchow21)
Does the Hong Kong version of PS Vita invert the controls? (VinerzZ)
Only if you are playing asian software because the menu is touch only and the controls are in the game itself not the hardware. (millsjonah)
What do you guys think is the best case for the PS Vita and why? The travel case, the carrying case, the pouch, or the limited edition case that comes in the first edition bundle? (ninetwothree)
If you want something to protect your PS Vita when you hold it, but can't carry game cards then go for the carrying case. However, if you want something that can hold game cards and other accesories then go for the pouch or first edition bundle case (Kchow21)
If you want it to hold cards and accessories go travel pouch or first edition case. If you want it to hold Vita only go carrying case. (millsjonah)
Are these the same bundles, because the cases look different to me.
They are the same the case and I've posted pictures of it that can be found on Amazon. Some retailers choose to put what looks like a "mock-up" picture instead of what it actually looks like.(Kchow21)
Can the PS Vita record videos with the camera (jmend12)
It will come in the form of a software update on february 8th. (millsjonah)
I've heard that some games save their data on the actual game cartridge and that you can not earn trophies on someone elses game without formatting it. Does this mean you can't share games between friends and family without losing your saved data? (ninetwothree)
The games that allow you to save on the game card also give you the option to save on the memory card. If you do so, this will allow you to keep your saves on your memory card and lets others play the games. Not to mention that the PS Vita holds multiple saves not just 3 (Kchow21).
You can save data and earn trophies by saving on memory card. (millsjonah)
If you format the game card in order to earn trophies on a different profile does the original profile lose their game progress? (Ned_Ryder)
Not as long as you have store your saves on a memory card (Kchow21).
If the save data is stored on a memory card and not the game itself and if you format the game you will still have it saved. However if it is saved on the game cartridge and format you will lose all save data. (millsjonah)
Does it give you the choice if you want to save on your memory card or the game cartridge or does the game decide for you. Also, do the majority of games save on your memory card because I hate the fact that some games saves on the cartridge. (ninetwothree)
Games that dont require a memory card will give you the option to choose where to save, but the ones that need it wont ask you (Kchow21)
If the game allows you to save it on the cartridge it will ask. (millsjonah)
Hi, what would you recommend, I buy a 32gb memory stick and download games through the PS store or just get a 4gb memory card and buy retail games? I don't favor one over the other and I don't want to mix and match between retail and digital.
Well, if you dont mind carrying 5-10 game cards and will wait for deals then I would say buy a 4GB and stick with retail since they tend to have better deals than PSN (You can find Crysis 2 for $20 at a store or for $40 on PSN), but you will have to wait a bit. However, if you dont want to carry around game cards and prefer to have multiple games on your memory stick then go for the 32GB, but PSN doesnt have as great sales as retail yet. (Kchow21)
I'm getting an iPod Touch in the near future(a few days). Since the PS Vita comes with a USB to AC adapter, would that work on the iPod Touch(plug the USB into the power brick and charge it like the Vita)? I want to know before I go out and buy a separate USB to AC Plug.(wolfpacleader1986)
I am not sure if it would work since the PSP Go would only charge with the PSP Go AC, but they may have changed that with the PS Vita (Kchow21)
BEYOND. I have a couple of questions
- The Vita is the successor to the PSP, however since the PSP sold more during the past month than the Vita, could IGN write a eulogy article of sorts for the PSP? In other words, this is as good as it gets for the PSP, and if someone was to get one in the last month, it would be intersting read to see what they would be getting for their money. And of course it would also serve as a nice capsule on the platform.
Not really a PS Vita question.
- Hideo Kojima says the world is moving towards playing a game on the console then taking it with you on the road. How soon do you see this happening? New AAA titles are $60, Vita titles are $40. Do you forsee developers bundling the console version and the Vita version together or does Sony think most people will pay $100 for a console game that is portable? (TheRatch)
Sony has been quiet about this topic and I would love to see game bundles or the PS Vita version being offerred as a digital copy like Blu-Rays do for an extra $20. However, they haven't shed any information on this yet. (Kchow21)
Actually Sony just announced vita launch titles that if you buy on the vita, gives you ps3 version and vice versa. Also if you already own them you will still get them free. The games are MotorStorm RC, Hustle Kings, Top Darts, WipEout HD and HD Fury DLC for WipEout 2048 and, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. You have to download the games from the store to get them both. (millsjonah)
Hey Greg. I've been hesitating on making a decission on which memory card to get. I want to put some songs on my ps Vita and few pictures. I don't know what the apps are like but I'm sure I'm not going to download many. I'm buying ALL my games in Stores and NOT from PSN. I'm purchasing 5 games and I'll probably get 2-3 more in the future. Games I'm getting are: Uncharted,Wipeout 2048, Gravity Daze(rush), Little Big Planet & Reality Fighters. Which memory card is best for me. And if you can, tell me approx. how many songs/pics./games you can fit on each memory card. (jyukaji03)
Depends on how many songs/pics you plan on putting in and if thats the only thing you plan to put in your memory card. If you would only be using it for saves, DLC, apps, pictures and songs then I would think that 4-8GB would be more than enough assuming you don't have a 1000+ songs (KChow21).
Here's my question: is the 3g model worth buying or should I just buy the wi-fi only model and is there a good 3rd party support on the psVita? (nrtvsssk98)
Do you have the money to pay $15 or $30 dollars per month for a plan? because the main reason to get 3G is to get/send updates and info at all times since it won't be fast enough to do online gaming (Kchow21).
Two questions concerning import Vitas.
- In your import guide you warn of the X/O button swap. Is this really a thing, with the Vita Menu being completely touch based
- Can you confirm that US/EU games will effectively swap the X/O buttons on JP Vitas to the US/EU control scheme? Or is the swap implemented on a lower or even hardware level? Thanks! (GutekZ)
Since the menu is touch the swap will only take affect in JP games. And it has been confirmed U.S. and EU games will swap X and O. (millsjonah)
Okay, I just have a quick question about the slots on the PS Vita. On the other page (Everything you need to know about the Vita) it shows that the PS Vita has a slot for the game and memory up top but after watching a few videos i see the Vita has the game up top and the memory card on the bottom (the other page has it labled as the headphone jack). So my question is what is the second slot on the top of the Vita? Thank you (BreeBot)
The game and memory slot are on the top and for the 3G version the sim card is on the bottom. The mysterious port is the accessory port. (millsjonah)
HELLO OK HERES MY QUESTION. IF I PRE ORDER THE FIRST EDITION CAN I GET A DIFRENT COLOR OF THE PS Vita AND WHEN ARE THE DIFFRENT PS Vita COLORS LUNCH DATE (JMEND12)
No, and no idea when a different colour of it will come any time soon. However, you can probably hope for a bundle with a different coloured PS Vita at some point. (Kchow21)
Hello! On the psp, the shooter games didn't work very well. They had to have the camera controlled by the face buttons. I was wondering if there is a way to map the face buttons to the right analog stick so playing psp shooters can be better on Vita.
Yes, all PSP games will support this (Kchow21).
Hey Greg! I was wondering would the psp add on camera work on the ps Vita. I just wanted to know because the psp camera add on is much better. Thanks in advance.
Don't think so, since you can use the cameras of the PS Vita to do the same function and I really doubt that the PSP add on camera is better. (KChow21)
Hey, am I able to use a non-Japanese Credit Card on the Japanese PSN Store? I tried yesterday and it came up with an error message, but I don't know what it means. (KimFookCouch)
Check with Sony customer service since that isnt something most users would do (though you would think that youd be able to). (Kchow21)
According to https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psVita/settings/google.html the Vita will support Google Maps.
What i want to know is if the Vita will save maps to the memory card and you will be able to preload your map/route, so you don’t have to use your 3G data connection downloading maps in real time (and waste valuable MBytes of your data plan every time you use the GPS) but only use the 3G for positioning. (Fernando)
No idea, 3G and GPS functionality will have to be tested once the system releases since 3G plan isnt being offered yet. (Kchow21)
Hey Greg! Beyond! I was just wondering should i get my Vita on launch or are there chances of later models?also could you please tell me if the Vita will have video output like the PSP.(SSKJGA)
No, it won't have video output and there are always chances for a price drop, bundles and new models down the line but then you would have to wait it out for a while. (Kchow21)
Hi Greg. Is it possible to link a US Vita to a UK PSN account. I've recently relocated from the UK to the States where I will be purchasing my Vita. My PS3 is still there and my PSN account is EU. I would like to keep my new Vita attached to that account to continue building my trophy collection. Will this be possible or will I have to open an American PSN account? (proteus1031)
Yes, you can but the only catch is that you won't be able to access the US PSN store. (Kchow21)
Will or can the Vita play PSN games like Good vs Evil HD, or the soon to be had Percurser Legacy HD, or any other great downloaded titles? (HipAlbatross23)
You might be able to remote play them but you can not play them natively unless there's a Vita version. (millsjonah)
I tried copying some video from my ps3 to the Vita and it took quite a while (3GB) to copy. After which it gave an error saying the content can't be played or something. But when i checked my memory card, it took up the space. Is there any way for me to delete it? I can't find the file anywhere using content manager from ps3 and pc but it's taking up the 3gb space. I don't have much yet on it so it's ok for me to just format, but what if this happens again? hope you can help or know the solution. (seraph973)
No idea, I would assume that the video you moved was bought from the PSN store. Therefore, it should work on the PS Vita... may want to check Sony FAQs.
Hello i have a question and I need a very honest opinion. I have the cash needed to buy a playstation Vita and it looks really cool. I watched all your videos on it and it seems lik it's not as good as they predicted. Do you think i should purchase one now, or wait until a later model comes out and fixes all the issues? (ryan123diablo)
Well if you don't see anything that interests you about the PS Vita or the games then why would you buy it? PS Vita was made to play games and it does that in strides. (KChow21)
Hey ryan I can also confirm that the reported issues are not widespread. I have had my imported Vita from launch (Japan) and have not experienced and problems with toch screen or crashing. (taj47)
The beyond crew say that it lives up to it's expectations perfectly and the only reason Vita isn't doing so well is pricing. Plus the issues are not widespread at all just a couple of videos and everyone is freaking out. So i would buy it now because A it lives up to expectations and is undoubtedly best handheld for hardcore gamers. B the chances are very very very low you wil get one with bugs. (millsjonah)
Are the 3G based apps included in the 3G Vita only usable on 3G? Because 3G apps (now and in the future) may be useful even if you can only use Wi-Fi based features. (BlueMaxima)
EDIT: wanted to add that I'm in Australia and with the huge fail that is Vodafone (the 3G partner for Sony here) I do NOT want to get the 3G version but I may just end up doing so.
There are no 3G only apps as of yet and the advantage of having 3G is getting updates at all times. (Kchow21)
BEYOND. If you have a Wifi unit and try to connect to a wifi hotspot at a hotel and said hotel makes you go to a website and enter a password to stay connected, can the Vita deal with that? I know the psp could not because it always disconnected between apps and then inside an app couldnt get connected because of the forced prompt page. Does the Vita stay consistently connected to the wifi hotspot like most devices nowadays or does it disconnect frequently like its predessecor? (KRD2nd)
You statement was half false. I used my PSP on wifi hotspots all the time it does indeed work. The hotspot has to use the common form of Registered-MAC versus using a time based cookie. Registered-MAC is compatible with every device that has a web browser, PSP included. The Vita will have this ability, but further infomration will have to be checked. (Mrbiggbrain)
Hi! I am planning to buy the US version of PS Vita in Hong Kong, in April. I really want the 3G version, do you think that it will be available there? And do you think that it will be sim unlocked? And can I use a Brazilian or US PSN account in a HK Vita (after US launch)? (VinerzZ)
It has been confirmed it will be sim locked. (millsjonah)
Yes, you can use a Brazilian or US account, but you wont be able to access the HK PSN store.
BEYOND! i was just wondering if it is possible to use a usb flashdrive on Vita just like on PS3, using a usb cable and/or an adapter. Alot of people have been telling me this does not work but i wanted to make sure if it really does, please if someone owns/used ps Vita or really knows the answer to the question please do (s00mr0) No, it will not work since the PS Vita doesn't have a USB slot (Kchow21).
Does (or will) remote play allow one person to play a game on the PS3 (using the dualshock) and another to simultaneously play a different game (that was downloaded to the PS3) on the Vita? (asepiru)
Doubt it, since Remote play is to stream your PS3 to the PS Vita not to have two different games running at the same time (Kchow21).
Are there any price savings between titles sold in physical stores vs the PSN? Basically, are there potential savings from buying a larger memory card and then purchasing games exclusively from the PS Store? (BigDaddyDLo)
The savings are roughly 5$ (millsjonah)
BEYOND! Just a few quick questions here. First off, does anyone know if Gravity Rush is going to be a launch title for the US and will it be downloadable only like in the US? Also, are game saves strictly on the memory card or are they also saved to the cartridge for the game like the 3DS works? Thanks. (OddRyan)
Yes, Gravity Rush will be a launch title for North America and it will sold on PSN and at retail. Some game saves require you to buy a memory card, but others won't and those give you the choice to save on the game card or memory card (Kchow21).
Hey everyone. I have two memory cards coming with my order next month, the 4GB from the first edition bundle and 8GB. Would I be able to use both on the same account? I was thinking on using the 4GB for game saves for the retail versions and 8GB for downloadable games, but someone said you can only use one card per account. It would really help if you guys could test this out since you have more than one card. (Jocaju)
You can use them both. (millsjonah)
Hey Greg! BEYOND! i was just wondering..
Is there a way to remote play your PS3 on your Vita via a USB cable without an internet connection? And also is there a way to connect Vita to internet wired and not wirelessly?
No to both of these. Remote play requires networking and the Vita does not offer networking through anything but Wifi. (Mrbiggbrain)
If you don't have a WiFi network to connect your PS Vita and PS3 fear not, the playstation 3 has a built in Access Point just for this purpose you can use that to connect the two. No evil wires needed (TheLyko)
Hey Greg! BEYOND! just a quick question..
I was wondering how clear and smooth is PS3's remote play on Vita via the internet, NOT private network, especially over large distances like 5km< - Are there any lag/framerate issues whatso ever? I just wanted to know this because i was wondering if i would be able to smoothly remote play my PS3 on my Vita while being in my office, and my PS3 being at my house(turned on with wifi) (s00mr0)
Although I saw In Gregs video that he suffered lag problems In the US ( when using remote play). Possibly due to servers e.t.c. But I can conform that in the UK it worked without any problems and I was able to play ps one classics aswell as videos e.t.c. (taj47)
if it's anything similar to how the PSP worked with remote play, lag/framerate should be highly dependent of the upload speed you have at home and the download speed you have in your office. Unless there's a better compression codec being used this time around. Lag most likely gets worse with distance, because there're more networks involved. Also, using a wired network at home would reduce lag. (theLyko)
there was a recent Playstation Conversation by Greg about remote play on the Vita, https://www.ign.com/videos/2012/01/18/playstation-conversation-playstation-Vita-remote-play , this should answer fairly well. Tho keep in mind that the Vita was connected via JP servers so it didnt do so well connected to the internet. hopefully when the US/EU launches things will be better. (AthruZ)
Reading all this stuff about switching accounts and having delete the data off your game leads me to this question. Can you backup the data to a memory card from the game cartarage? Perhaps even transfer it via the content manager? Could only image the horror of say damaging your game or losing it. While in the middle of a crowed area to be stepped on or just lost. Then someone sees it and is all like, "Yippie, free game". (UnholyVision)
Edit: I wanted to add that I do not mean backup the game itself. I am talking along the lines of taking the data stored on the game cartage such as save data or trophy stats. Since some games do not require a memory card and I am sure some of the progress towards a trophy is store on it. For example, X amount of kills you had added up to a trophy. This of course is not a huge problem, but if the game saved on the game cart and not your memory card it sure would be. (UnholyVision)
Yes if the game cartridge is in the Vita just connect it to the PS3 and transfer it over. You can then transfer the save data to the Vita memory card itself & after you can format the cartridge. (millsjonah)
Hey Greg! BEYOND! just a few questions..
I was wondering if it is possible to remote play your PS3 with Vita over large geographical distances. Or atleast, will it be possible for me remote play my PS3 from my Vita in my office if my PS3 is at my home, considering both Vita and PS3 are turned on with Wifi network? Also i was wondering if it is possible to voice chat with your friends who are playing on a PS3 using your Vita's built-in microphone. (s00mr0)
If I am reading this correctly, your asking if you can remote play outside of your own network? Because the remote play does have an option to do just this. You would just click on the blue button with the globe above it.
Green Button (Connect via Private Network)
Blue Button (Connect via Internet)
Party is only for PS Vita users and PS Vita users can only chat via in-game with PS3 users using the text chat or what they call Group Messaging.
You can find more about remote play from the PS Vita manual as well.(UnholyVision)
https://www.ign.com/videos/2012/01/18/playstation-conversation-playstation-Vita-remote-play this is a Playstation Conversation by Greg about remote play. basically, using a JP PS Vita (obviously) he connects to a PS3 via interntet and private network. via internet it's connected to JP servers so it did not perform so well but once launched in the US/EU i would imagine it to improve (but i cant confirm that). hope that helped. (AthruZ)
I saw your great video on how to Switch PSN accounts on one Vita. However, I'm still wondering, when you Restore that Vita to its Factory Settings, can the 2nd User earn Trophies on games that are stored on a PS Vita Card - even if the 1st user has played that PS Vita Card game on their own PSN Profile in the past, before the PS Vita was Reset for use by the 2nd User? (portessa)
Your question is a bit confusing to me. Sorry. If you're switching memory cards, the games are on those memory cards so they're only good for that PSN name that's on that card. If you're talking about game carts, you'd need to delete all the installed data to use on another system/profile. (Greg Miller)
REPHRASED FOLLOW UP: Sorry Greg, let me try and ask a different way: Can anyone who uses their PSN Profile on one PSVita System earn Trophies on games stored on Game Carts?
For example: Playing Uncharted once for trophies on your JP account then swapping to your US one to play Uncharted again to earn trophies for your US account as well. (portessa)
Yes, they can be via a game cart. You just have to swipe them clean. As for downloaded software the answer is different. Since it is the same way on the PS3 in terms of downloads. No you will not get to play the content from another profile due to the fact said downloaded items are tied to your PSN account upon purchase. These pieces of content require you to download them on a console which has been activated to said account. Once that account is removed from the device the software you downloaded is rendered useless. (UnholyVision)
I'm a PS3 owner, and currently very interested in the Vita and especially interested in the FinalFantasyX HD remake coming to both the systems. My question is, since it's coming to both systems, which would be better for me to get it on? Playing on the go would be great, but you always want that time where you can sit back and relax with the TV, if I got it for the Vita, then how compatible do they make the PS3 and Vita? Could I play my Vita game on the TV through my PS3, or would I have to buy both the Vita and PS3 version of this game to get what I'm looking for? (ColonelSirch)
The PS3 does not play Vita games and vice versa. There will be some games where the saves are compatible but no word yet on FFX Remix. The Vita does not have any video out (due to licensing concerns) so you can not play it on the big screen that way. The choice is really yours, I love playing FF games on my handhelds simply because you can spend hours in a place you would normaly be bored and i like to lay back in my bed and just spend time with my handheld. (Mrbiggbrain)
Beyond! I have imported a few UMD japanese psp games for my psp. I was wondering, can the UMD passport system transfer my japanese games to my US Vita and US PSN account and still work? Thanks (MrCuban)
I'd wait for an official satement how UMD passport's gonna work in the States first, it can't be that far off. (ro-kurorai)
When are we going to see the rayman origins Vita review? (saedB)
Shortly before the game is released in the U.S. because they don't review foreign copies. (millsjonah)
We now know that the data plans consist of 250 mb and 2 gb of data, but how much is this really getting you? Wouldn't constantly being connected playing an online game such as Wipeout burn up that data so quick you'd be done before you started racing? I know on Smartphones that the data is used relatively quickly for things like Netflix and other apps that are constantly connected. How much data does playing such a game online take up? Also, what were to happen if I overspend, since there are no contracts? Well, even a further question, how are payments working for it since it is month-to-month? Credit Cards? PSN cards? (InvertedGaming)
Hi invertedGaming. Gaming shouldn't be a concern as you can't play online via 3G due to low bandwidth. It's primarily intended for social features and a quick FAQ-look-up on the go. As the data plans are pre-paid, on a monthly basis, I assume you simply can't use 3G features once you're over budget (250Mb or 2GB respectively). That's just me speculating but I'm certain AT&T and Vodafone (EU) will soon announce all of their options including payment and going over budget. 6 more weeks to go, Beyond! (ro-kurorai)
There will be asyncronous support for games which works well for uploading ghosts, time trials, and games like chess but because of the shear data for gaming syncronously it will not be supported over 3G. Some games are going to support Semi-Almost on support via the 3G by checking for updates every 30 minuts at a few KB (like someone leaves you a present in a game) (Mrbiggbrain)
Beyond! I notice that when you launch a regular Vita game like Uncharted, a notification pops up saying that network features have been disabled. Does this mean that cross game party voice chat will be no longer possible as previously promised? (The_Chaos_Theory)
Games like Uncharted and Lord of Apocalypse completely disable the network card inside of the PS Vita. Meaning there will be no connection via infrastructure, so no PSN. Developers are going to have control over what parts of the PS Vita will be disabled or enabled at any time to improve overall performance of their games. (UnholyVision)
If I buy my PS Vita in US and bring it to Brazil, will I be able to connect it through 3g with a Brazilian carrier? (tcabrino)
3G has only been confirmed for Japan, Europe, And US no word on other regions. But being as Canada does not get 3G i would assume not. (Mrbiggbrain)
It seems that at least some games will be available alongside the launch of the First Edition Bundle on the 15th, but do you know if any of the larger memory cards or other accessories will also be available that day? (GeekElite)
Was already confirmed on PSBlog that most accessorys would be availible 2/15 including all the memory cards and the accessory bundle. (Mrbiggbrain)
do you think the Vita will get a price drop do to japan sales? (wakamomo)
Don't know, it would be possible in a couple of months or at least they may give you a memory card for free.
Sales figures are within the ranges sony exspected so most likely not. (Mrbiggbrain)
I'm living in Japan right now on a USAF base. Is there anyway to mix services, and buy an American Vita 3G model and use the Japanese company Docomo with it? Or better yet, can I use AT&T's plans over here? Thanks.(seankulbeth)
A hearty salute to you, soldier! It's an honor to speak to someone who's defending our country!
Anyways, to answer your question. Since the PS Vita is region free, what you can do is buy a Japanese Vita and Uncharted right now(since Uncharted has an English option) and use the Docomo service. When the American games come out, you can either have a family member or friend send the games to you or use Play-Asia to buy them directly. It will still play as the PS Vita is region free. Docomo has a prepaid 3G plan while AT&T has a month to month contract(you can cancel at any time), but with Docomo you can buy minutes(3G time) as you need it. So, if you go through your 2GB in a couple of weeks, you don't have to wait for the next month to get more, you can buy more.
I'm not sure about importing an American Vita to do that as it's not out yet, but if you're really looking to get one(and I can see why as when you're on a military base, time can really crawl), I suggest going this route.(wolfpacleader1986)
Hi Greg. It's kinda logical but I just wanna ask to make absolutely sure: My main PSN account is my NA-one. Does that mean that were I to purchase Japanese PSN-versions of Vita games I could not earn trophies on my main PSN-account where I hoard them all?!
You wouldn't be able to access the Japanese PSN store with your NA account. Moreover, you can only have one PSN account at a time so this isn't possible, but if you bought Japanese retail copies then it would be.
Thanks Greg. So the only restriction of foreign games is region-locked DLC. Guess no FF Type-0 on Vita for me then. Thanks again for taking your time and answering our questions. Beyond! (ro-kurorai)
Trophies are disabled if you buy pre-owned games (MY GOD.), say it ain't so :( How exactly would sony allow you to gain trophies once they are Disabled? channelbird BEYOND!
You can still gain trophies you just need to format the game card (millsjonah)
Hi. Just wondering if anyone has any more details on how a UMD passport works. Thanks! (paterson48)
Hi paterson48. I don't have hands-on experience but in Japan you gotta download a program off PSN and follow the instructions. I'd wait for the official English release. (ro-kurorai)
Hi Greg! I'm ready to preorder in the UK. Apart from the 3G hardware functionality, are there any other extras in the 3G bundle to that of the Wi-fi only bundle you know of? Thanks and Beyond! (matt800)
3G comes with a GPS built in and you have to get a plan if you actually want to use 3G. If you are talking about First Edition Bundles then it is the same exact one.
Will the PS Vita come with 6 Augmented Reality cards and the AR game vouchers in North America as it has been announced for EU? Are we getting the same things as they are? - (Mounce)
Yes, though the vouchers might be different.
If you pair an official Sony bluetooth headset made for the PS3 to a PS Vita does it offer the same options? Such as battery life, volume, mute/unmute, and other forms of status in a notification. (UnholyVision)
You can still use it as a mic you just can't have the notifications. (millsjonah)
3G data info?
- Gamestop is not an official source since they just tend to speculate or make assumptions. Wait until you hear from Sony.
Site taken from:
Can I use the Vita like a phone if i have Skypes phone service? (vhouston214)
Beyond! I have a couple of question: (djdavereed)
Can I used my Psp go memory card for my Vita since they are about the same size? No, the PS Vita memory cards are new propietary cards. (Kchow21)
Any word on NFL Blitz, Madden 12 or NBA 2k12 versions for the Vita?
No, there hasn't been any word about those games yet and doubt there will since they will probably work on 2013 versions(if at all, since they haven't been announced). However, FIFA 12 is coming out for PS Vita. (Kchow21)
Answer: Yes on Madden (Pugface)
Site:
https://www.gamestop.com/ps-Vita/games/madden-nfl-2013/98821
- Gamestop is not an official source since they just tend to speculate or make assumptions and Madden 13 has yet to be announced by EA.
2 questions:
1. Does the Vita have the ability to Transfar PSP saves (eg. MGS HD Collection/Peace Walker) or do PSP communication with the PS3 when using the backwards compatibility feature?
Yes, PS Vita pretty much emulates a PSP and therefore acts like one.
2. Can you play your own music in the background while Running a game? (ViewtifulJak)
Yes. (Kchow21)
I here the playstation Vita's analogue sticks are clunky and still not ready for something like a first person shoot, thoughts?(NottaFinga)
Above all, try them out yourself. Scott Lowe's criticism felt more like nit picking than an actual issue and Greg stated here that they feel great. (KChow21)
Hello, How fast is the Vita's browser? Compared to PSP, and an iPhone. (Kikipowa101)
Faster than psp but slower than iphone due to poor optimization (millsjonah)
Will the PS Vita have screen covers that reduce the glossy effect? I've heard that outside use is almost impossible because of the high gloss finish on the Vita's screen. (OsborneLV)
The screen protector advertises that it will remove some of the glossy effect and prevent scratches. (Kchow21)
Hi, Just a quick question
Will the Vita play downloaded ps1 titles? I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Thanks again! (tbarker24)
According to the Playstation Blog, "Users can play PSP titles, minis, and PSone classics titles which are offered on the PSN Store." So, any game that can be downloaded on a PSP can be played on Vita.(Nauzk)
Hi greg, i have two questions:
Vita have or will have a app to see my mail?
Has not been announced yet. (Kchow21)
If it does or if I need to get in from the browser, can I open documents of word or power point? Like in ipod touch-iphone, thanks (Guerrero11)
Let's say I bought a PSone game on my PS3. Can I just transfer it over to a Vita, or do I have to buy it all over again?(MehdiAkbar)
Yes, just put in your PSN account on PS Vita and you will be able to download them. (Kchow21)
Yes, on the PS Vita, can you put images and videos and music from the pc onto it to view and watch and listen to them like on the PSP? (TheCollector)
Yes, you can put images and videos and music from the PC or Mac onto it to view and watch and listen to them like on the PSP.
In addition to the above comment, but if you have Vuze, you can convert videos to PS3 format by drag and drop. Since it plays all PS3 format videos(supposedly), it should work. I'm sure in a future update, Vuze will have a conversion feature for the Vita natively as well(wolfpacleader1986)
I got the first edition bundle for the Vita. Will I have to wait until the 22nd to be able to buy more games and add-ons or will stores have such things in stock for the people who have the Vita on the 15th? (OsborneLV)
Not sure about PSN, but you will be able to buy all first party games on the 15th. Check it out on the Playstation Blog.(Kchow21)
PSN was confirmed same day. Unsure if we have to wait for a PS Store update tho. Hopefully they release it the day before to let everyone DL the games the night before and avoid the massive DL levels. (Mrbiggbrain)
Do we have to pay monthly for the 3g service if we get the Vita with 3g?(OneSlyNinja)
The 3G model can be used without paying for 3G and will be essentially the same as the WiFi model, but if you want to actually use 3G functionallity, you will have to pay an extra fee. Details on pricing are unannounced. (Nauzk)
Does the Vita version of Rayman Origins have any features exlcusive to the handheld? also does it have multiplayer? (saedisawesome37)
Yes, the mode where you can compete with other players ghosts is exclusive to Vita. (millsjonah)
Given the single set of physical triggers on the Vita, how are L2/R2 functions handled for PS1/2/3 ports? (TrueKamilo)
Touch screen or rear touch for games that would normally use L2/R2, so far. Unsure about PS1 classics unless you meant HD remakes of those which don't exist yet.(Kchow21)
How much memory does a full PSN title take up?, i want Gravity Rush but its download only in the UK (i've heard) im asking as i want to know what size memory card to get.
Well, retail game cards hold anywhere from 2GB and lower to the max of 4GB. You don't need to get the biggest memory card unless you want to have a lot of games with you all the time, but you could have 1-2 PS Vita games at a time with a 4GB and store the rest on your Mac, PC or PS3.(Kchow21)
Can I have your PSN ID? I want to test the party chat function with somebody overseas, I am from UK. Or you can add me my ID is "VitaHusnain"
If you are referring to Greg is psn id is Gameovergreggy but his friends list is at the max (100 friends) so you can't add him.
I know this is quite a broad question but should I just wait for the ineVitable 'slim' version? Also, my birthday is March 24th so if you do recommend buying the first one, do you predict a price drop in the UK before my brithday? Thanks! (HaydenII)
Depends how long you want to wait for a "Slim" version. Which I doubt will come any time soon (3DS has yet to bring out one yet and it is almost 1 year later, so you are probably looking at 2-3 years later). Price Drop could happen sooner or a memory card bundle but noone knows unless you have a Time Machine Delorean.(Kchow21)
Regarding the PSVita Memory Cards and the games where the Saved Data that is saved to them (as opposed to the games that save on the PSVTA Game card): Say I had a PSVita with a bunch of PSVita Game Cards, and I wanted to occasionally share use of my PSVita with my folks at home. I'm aware that Trophies on PSVita Game Card games can only be earned on the first System the game is inserted into, and that each "User" will need there own Memory Card. However, if for example my Mum, who after playing my PSVita decides she wants one for herself (it happened with my PS3), would her PSVita Memory Card have to be Formatted in order for her to use it in her own System if she ever got one? If so, would it not be possible to Backup the Memory Cards content to a PS3 first, and then restore it back to that Memory Card once it is tied to the new System? (portessa)
Wow. That was a mouthful. I think you'd need to format it. I don't know if you can. Colin, Clements, Scott Lowe and myself are all in different parts of the country. When I get back to another Vita, I'll check around for you. (Greg Miller)
FOLLOW UP: After watching your video on Switching PSN Accounts on the Vita, it seems as though if my Mum got her own PSVita, that any Demos or Saves on her Memory Card would work fine, since I would follow your instructions in the video and switch my PSVita to her PSN Profile if she ever wanted to use her Card my system before getting her own. Am I right? (portessa)
Yeah, sounds like you're on the right page. (Greg Miller)
Hi , I currently own a psp 3000 and have a decent music collection on it , so I recently got a pair of Sony headphones to use on my psp, but the psp dosen't produce enough sound to hear the music at an enjoyable level . So , my question is , does the Vita produce a higher audio output than the psp , or will allow me to listen to music with my headphones ? Thank you and BEYOND!!! (Bigal12345678910)
I don't have any scientific tests of sound levels, but I haven't had an issue yet. The speaker output is nice and the headphone level seems solid. (Greg Miller)
would the Vita work if i put a japanesse memory card into an Australian Vita?
Yes, but it would reformat the card if there was data on it. (Greg Miller)
Will the PS Vita be able to make phone calls? (OsborneLV)
Skype on the PS Vita was apparently revealed at a recent PS Vita event Found this on kotaku, but if you mean like a cell phone no sorry the 3g is just for gameing and apps away from home. (purerican32)
Which import games has the option for English voice or subtitles/text? Are the PS Vita games at the IGN office Japanese or Asian versions?(European_Gamer)
So far, just Uncharted. We have Japanese games. (Greg Miller)
Can you sync the trophies earned on the Vita by simply plugging it into your PS3 or can you only sync them within the system itself? (Leigh_093)
There's a "sync with server option" that appears to be the only way. (Greg Miller)
Does Sony allow a nobody or an newbie to make apps for Vita?'
No. (Greg Miller</b>)
I read that Sony is spying on Vita users when they use Content Manager? If it is true, what can you say to Sony for spying on Vita users like yourself? (Aeon_44)
To quote what Shuhei Yoshida has said on his twitter a couple of times "Don't believe everything that you read from the internet" (Kchow21)
And gmail reads your mail. Actualy they do! I would not call collecting anonymous or semi-anonymous data for use in deciding whats apps and games to put on sale or offer DLC for as spying. Every company does this, every one. It allows them to collect data and use it to better the system. WHat could they collect that your afraid of? (mrbiggbrain)
How has the battery life been ,has it been dying alot? (FruitySnaks)
It's been fine. I've had it die on me, but it hasn't been terrible. (Greg Miller)
is there any privacy settings for Near, Friends, and Party apps?
like if you don't want to be detected by anybody, in short, invisible to anyone but i can still see others.
Yes there are privacy settings. (millsjonah)
can you backup a Vita game card? (Aeon_44)
- Yes. You can set private areas in Near so it'll never show your address. Same for Friends and Party. You can make it so that only certain people see things
- Not that I'm aware of. I'll fiddle around more, but I've never seen that option. (Greg Miller)
How much cheaper is downloading a game over buying it retail? (Shikamaru6100)
Roughly 5$. (millsjonah)
U.S. Prices haven't been confirmed. (Greg Miller)
Are there any games that are retail-only (not downloadable on PSN)? (Law)
So far, no. There are some games that are downloadable only, though. (Greg Miller)
Sony stated that evey game is required to be released as a Download title, but not required to release as a Retail title. So everything will be availible on PSN but not evertythign will be availible at retail. (Mrbiggbrain)
When you post something in the FaceBook app, will it say "via PS Vita" or will just say "via Mobile"? You know, the one when you post something on your FB using an iPhone, then that post will say "via iPhone". (Aeon_44)
The Twitter App says "via PlayStation Vita," so I assume using the Facebook App would yield similar results. (Greg Miller)
Does the PS Vita come with a memory card pre-installed kind of like the nintendo 3ds?(sisqo1993)
Nope. (Greg Miller)
How hot can the PS Vita get after 2-4 hours of playing? Is it loud at all? (Kchow21)
I've never noticed mine heat up and it's silent as there's no disc spinning. (Greg Miller)
Does the PS Vita feature rumble at all? (Kchow21)
Nope. (Greg Miller)
Can Vita connect to a 5 GHz wireless signal? (loesjoel)
Uh, that's way too techy for a loser like me. It gets wifi fine. Where could I find this 5GHz to check? (Greg Miller)
A 5 GHz band would be accessed for example from a wireless router that supports it. Usually these are going to be dual-band wireless routers that have essentially two wireless networks - a 2.4GHz network, and the 5GHz network. You can ask whoever manages the wireless in the office if you guys have that running. (KoojoPanda)
Futher, the Tech Tower Scott Lowe would be able to confirm. (loesjoel)
Ah. Cool. I'll bug Scott to come here and respond. <3 (Greg Miller)
Can you listen to Podcast Beyond on the PS Vita? (Kchow21)
Yup. Clicking on the link in the IGN article starts it downloading to your music section. SWEET! (Greg Miller)
Do PSP games that required the camera add-on (InviZimals) support the PS Vita's camera? (Kchow21)
Unknown. At the moment, the Vita doesn't see my PSP games on my PS3 so I can't copy them over to check. The Vita Store isn't up and running, so I can't download my old games to try. :/ (Greg Miller)
@ (Greg Miller) - Surely you can download the PSP Games using your PS3 and use the USB Cable and Content Manager on PSVita to Copy them across. - The same is sure true for Minis if you Copy them to the PSVita when they show up as a Bubble on PS3 (without installing them on the PS3). I read about this in the PSVita User Manual here: https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psVita/game/game_ps3.html (portessa)
According to this video:
At the 54 Second Mark, you can see the PSP settings are accessed by pressing and holding on the Vita's screen, and among the options, are a camera feature. It gives you the option of using the Vita front or rear camera for PSP use. (@HarrisFoster)
@Kchow21 I believe this will works since the PSP emulator has the option of using the front or back camera.
@HarrisFoster with regards to transferring PSP games, I have done a lot of testing on this and right now you can only transfer games downloaded from the Japanese PSN store. I have tried it with the US PSN store and the Vita does not see the US downloaded PSP game. I am thinking it is something baked into the Vita firmware so I bet we see a firmware update as we get closer to the US launch(@Gadgetboy1057)
Does Transfarring work on the PS Vita? (Kchow21)
Unknown. At the moment, the Vita doesn't see my PSP games on my PS3 so I can't copy them over to check. The Vita Store isn't up and running, so I can't download my old games to try. :/ (Greg Miller)
Will Square Enix make their PSP games available for download that were UMD only? Such as Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and Final Fantasy: Crisis Core. (ArticPhoenix)
We'll have to wait and see. (Greg Miller)
does The web browser supports youtube?, i know that ps Vita doesn't support flash but i read that youtube supports also HTML5 (milexpe)
It doesn't. (Greg Miller)
Even the HTML5 version that's accessible at "https://www.youtube.com/html5"? (thatquebecdude)
How are the download times compared to the PS3 and PSP, and can you play minis on the Vita? (Cloud_ax)
Download times seem about the same. A firmware was taking its sweet time, so I instead had it go to the PS3 and got it from there. You should be able to play Minis, but I'm unable to copy them over at this time. (Greg Miller)
Are there any apps not minis or small little games but actaul apps like Twitter or Facebook?BEYOND! (FruitySnaks)
BEYOND! There are in Japan and there will be in the States. (Greg Miller)
Can you be online with both the PS3 and the Vita at the same time on the same account and if so, how is it displayed on the friends list? (ArconPrime)
Yes, you can. It shows the PS3 activity. PS3 players can't see what Vita players are up to... yet. (Greg Miller)
Does Near collect information of PS Vitas around you without the need of a 3G or Wi-fi connection(like the 3DS)?(Kchow21)
Doesn't look like it. I turned wifi off and hopped it. Near asked me to turn wifi on. (Greg Miller)
Are there any PS Plus benefits on the PS Vita that you could find? (Kchow21)
Hard to say. My American account is my PlayStation Plus account, and the Store isn't up yet, so I can't check. (Greg Miller)
Does the PS Vita support digital copies that come along with Blu Ray movies? (Kchow21)
I don't know and don't have any to check with. (Greg Miller)
@Greg Miller: I can spare a digital copy from my Blu-Rays if you need them. I really have no use for them as I mostly take YouTube videos(like PS Vita vids, YAY!) and wrestling stuff on the go. Let me know.
Yes it does. I was able to copy the digital copies from my PSP GO back to the PS3 (Zombieland, Planet 51, District 9) and then copy them to the Vita. (AngryEdison)
Is the touch screen easily scratched? does the rear touchpad get as many smudges and fingerprints as the touch screen? (Kchow21)
The touch screen hasn't been scratched yet. The rear touch get more fingerprints than the front. (Greg Miller)
Can you create folders, just like iOS does? (Zezzler)
Nope. (Greg Miller)
Is it only Vita specific software that can be paused in the background, or are PSone games, and PSP software able to be paused on the fly? (Zezzler)
At the moment, I'm unable to grab those games and check. (Greg Miller)
From what I can tell this works with all software. I have tested this with Turbo Graphics emu, metal slug 2 and a psp game. Psone games do not work yet on Vita (only over remote play). (Winningweiner)
Can you go over how Party chat works, and it's many features? (Zezzler)
Not really. The American servers aren't up, so when we tested it, we could only text chat. We have the general breakdown, but no solid hands-on time. (Greg Miller)
Do the PSP games that use the Right Stick on the PS Vita change their tutorial to fit the new controls? (Kchow21)
I can't get my Vita to see my PSP games yet, so I can't tell you. (Greg Miller)
How loud are the PS Vita's speakers in comparison to other portable devices? Are they appropiately loud or would you suggest the use of headphones? (Kchow21)
They get pretty loud, but I'm always going to go with headphones for games like Uncharted so I don't miss anything. (Greg Miller)
Since memory cards are necessary to run most games. How much space do these downloadable games take up from a memory card? Do you forsee having to buy a larger memory card? (Kchow21)
Uncharted is about 3GB, but I've seen games at 750 MB. I'm going to add a section listing game sizes. Honestly, if you kept all your content on a PS3/Mac or PS3 and then just copied over what you knew you were going to play, you could get by with a 4GB stick. I want to have everything on me at all times, though. (Greg Miller)
So far, is the Vita better, the same, or worse than you expected and why? (nyy2535)
So far, it's on par with my expectations. Right now, it sucks because Uncharted is the only thing in English and a lot of the bells and whistles aren't working on my servers yet. Still, I'm happy to have it and having fun with it. (Greg Miller)
Does the Wi-fi version include the GPS? Have you seen any advantage/disadvantage by having this? (Kchow21)
There's no GPS app on the Vita, but Near locates me each time. So there's location-based stuff regardless. (Greg Miller)
No. The wifi Vita does not have GPS. its uses data from all Access points near you to pin point your location.(Winningweiner)
Will PS2 classics be playable on PS Vita? (FruitySnaks)
Sadly, that's unknown right now. The U.S. Store isn't up and running. I can try to check on the Japanese store later.(Greg Miller)
Do you have to use Media GO to manage media from your PC/Mac? (TheSuburbanHero28)
Yes, but it's not called Media Go anymore. Now, it's Content Manager. A video of it in action on the PS3 is below. If you want to download the PC or Mac program now, go ahead. (Greg Miller)
BEYOND! I used to have PSP Go, but I kept the memory card (M2) with my game saves so I could start playing games like Resistance Retribution on my Vita where I left off on my PSP. Knowing that the M2 won't fit into the Vita, is there any adaptors I can buy on, say Amazon, that will allow me to convert the M2 into a card that will fit into my computer, that I then can put on a USB drive, that I can then put in my PS3 and transfer onto my Vita? Thanks! And I live in Canada so a Canadian store would be much appreciated. (AdoAJ)
You could just plug it in to the ps3 and on ps3 go to Settings, USB Connection on psp then go to Game -> Memory Card Utility -> PlayStation Portable on ps3 to transfer than copy to Vita. (millsjonah)
Hi, Is it possible to copy a game purchased on cartridge to the PS Vita's internal storage (memory card) so that we dont have to carry the cartridge around? Thank you (mharris1984)
No it is not possible because you could basically create unlimited copies of a single game and have however many people playing the same game from 1 cartridge. (millsjonah)
I saw the youtube video of content managing for the Vita, can you do it with the PSP/PSP go as opposed to PS3? (Sonicfan11589)
Nope only do it Vita/ps3 or Vita/Mac or PC (millsjonah)
What ps Vita game do you recommend that you would never get tired of playing. Im only getting 1 game so far so what do you think I should buy. I live in the US.Thank you. (Iceman1224)
If you are the creative type go with little big planet Vita. If you want a very lengthy campaign disgea 3. If you want a lot of multiplayer go wipeout or umvc3. (millsjonah)
I would say get Lumines if you enjoy great music and fun gameplay that you can play over and over. I've tried Little Deviants and some of those mini-games get pretty addicting as well. (Kchow21)
How much will download games be? I heard from GameStop that it's considerably cheaper. (xlr8we)
Sony has stated that they will be cheaper, but have yet to state price. However, it may have been leaked that it will 10% cheaper (Kchow21)
Does the PS Vita Skype app let you do a video chat as opposed to just a voice chat? (fundude1)
No idea since there hasn't been any talk about the Skype app via Sony, but it probably is very possible. (Kchow21)
I am curious about PSP games on the Vita. Would a game, such as GT5 PSP be able to take advantage of Vita's Dual Analog controls? Thanks. (cbrown119)
Yes, any PSP game can be set to use the Right Stick, but I dont think that GT PSP would need it. (KChow21)
Hello. Is it confirmed that if,for example,I buy HK PS Vita, there is no way that I can connect to UK PSN Store? When it's available of course.Cheers.(TheSayid)
Yes, you can use a UK PSN account on a HK PS Vita, but you won't want to switch accounts all the time. (Kchow21)
Yeah I got that it has brilliant graphics, dual analogs and can sh!t taco's, but how is it? Like is it fun 24/7? Or am I not getting my moneys worth? (G4merfre4rhum97)
That depends on the games that you like and decide to purchase. Having no games at all and the system by itself wouldn't be much fun. (Kchow21)
Beyond! I have a question about the 3G Vita bundle that is $300 with the free 3G pass and memory card. I was looking at the fine print which says:
Your promotional 250 MB session automatically starts upon expiration of your 1st session plan, if you have activated the redemption code. Offer redeemed is for 250MB DataConnect Pass session only, regardless if you are on the 250MB or 3GB DataConnect Pass plan.)
Does this mean that in order to use the free 250MB pass that I would need to buy a plan before using it? I was considering only getting a Wifi but I might get this if I can just use the pass to get the free game and then I have 3G in case it becomes useful in the future. (steventhestarman2112)
Nice catch, It does seem like you need to pay for the first month and then you get the free 250mb for the next month. However, you can cancel after the first month out of it since the plan won't be contract based. (Kchow21)
I have a two part question. Can I have two memory cards with the same PSN account on them? Part 2 of my question is, when I switch between these two memory cards do I have to factory reset my PS Vita? In essesnce I'm asking if I have to factory reset my Vita every time I change memory cards, even if they have the same PSN account on them. (Kulololi)
Yes you can have two memory cards with the same account and you won't have to factory reset it (Kchow21).
Hi Greg, I was just wondering does the PS Vita front screen and the rear touch pad can get scratched up easily from for example putting and pulling it out of your jeans Thanks! (VivaGamers)
They are both prone to fingerprints, but the rear touchpad is prone to scratches than the front touchscreen (Kchow21).
I live in Gibraltar Which is a British colony at the south of Spain. We have two mobile networks Gibtelecom and CTS would one of these cover the 3g on the Vita or would I have to get it from vodafone in Spain?
Also I heard that some games that you can play on the ps3 may have the ability to transfer game play to the Vita and take the game with you and play then when you return home you can transfer what you have done and continue to play on ps3 is this true and would you have to pay for the ps3 version and the Vita? Thanks (croakergirl)
You would need to get the vodafone and yes you can transfer save data through the Vita and ps3 in games like ruin. You do have to pay for both versions seperately unless they are bundled. (millsjonah)
One of my favorite things I would do with my PS3 was stream videos/music from my pc to it, can the Vita do that provided it's on the same network connection as the PC? (tripplenipple)
You can use Remote play to stream from your PS3 to PS Vita and then you could use your PS Vita to access your PC network. (KChow21)
Yes you can stream directly from the pc becaue the Vita has dlna in its' blood.(millsjonah)
Whats the format of controls of the psVita in hong kong version, is it western? (jomelmark)
Only if you are playing asian software because the menu is touch only and the controls are in the game itself not the hardware. (millsjonah)
I'm still debating on whether I should get the wifi version ($250) or the 3g/Wifi launch bundle ($300), but no websites have included what it means to have a free PSN title. Does that mean I can download like Uncharted for free or will they only give me a specific list of titles to download, and if so, which ones? I also wanted to know what you guys think about the PS Vita Trigger grip, do you think that would make the transition from an xbox controller to the Vita easier? Please respond because I need to decide which system to get pronto. Thanks. (slesngr)
The free game is Super Stardust Delta. (millsjonah)
The trigger grip will make your PS Vita a bit more bulkier and give you 360 style triggers, but you don't really need it since the triggers in the PS Vita are pretty good. (Kchow21)
The trigger grips will make it easier but it will be just fine without them, (millsjonah)
Will I be able to play my PS3 games on the Vita without the hack? Are they going to make an AC and MGS game for it?
Motorstorm rc,Motorstorm RC, Hustle Kings, Top Darts, WipEout HD and HD Fury DLC for WipEout 2048 and Capcom's, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will come with Vita and ps3 copy of the game. There is an assassins creed game and mgs hd collection coming to Vita. And you can remote play some games. (millsjonah)
Is the Touch Screen Gorrilla Glass, reglar glass, plastic, or something else? (Kaziganthi)
It is thick plastic. (millsjonah)
Can the free PSP games recieved from the PSN store (after the outage) be used on the Vita? Also, I am deciding between getting MK and UMvsC3. I haven't really played any of them, but I've heard MK is better, but I like some of the characters form UMvsC3. Any suggestions? (TheSilverVince) All digital psp games can be played on the Vita. If you want gore and better story go mk and if you want superheroes go umvc3. (millsjonah) I got Little Big Planet and Killzone Liberation both running on the Vita. Oddly, the only way to get them on the Vita at this point is to use the content manager on the PS3 to transfer them. (Stromos)
Ok so i was wondering ( i think i have this right) you can download ps3 games you have on your ps3 and play them on the ps Vita im not 100% sure on the whole thing? is it like only certain games. can you please explain the whole ps3 games on ps Vita thing? (FullOn Frittata)
You can remote play some games but you can not play ps3 games on the Vita. However if you have a copy of a game on the Vita and a copy of the same game on PS3 you can transfer save data. There are games like motorstorm R/C, hustle kings umvc3, wipeout hd, wipeout 2048, and UMVC, that when you download it you get a ps3 and a Vita version. Hope this helps. (millsjonah)
Ok follow up question what do you mean by remote play some games? (FullOnFrittata)
What he means by some titles, is that it depends on whether the title was built to support the remote play, so some will and some won't. (dromney)
A couple questions here.
- Would you happen to know if the PSPgo Headset/Mic works with the PSVita?
1A. Looks like the PSP headset (with inline mic) work just fine on the PS Vita. I just tested it myself on my First edition bundle. Works like a charm. (dromney) - Can you play AdHoc games with PSP users if you are playing a PSPtitle? (dromney)
2A. Looks like the AdHoc games with PSP is possible, found it on this website. https://www.geeky-gadgets.com/sony-psp-and-Vita-can-communicate-via-ad-hoc-mode-21-09-2011/ (dromney)
Follow up question, So remote play lets you pretty much use the ps3 on your ps vita or psp but my question is if your remote playing your ps3 can someone still play the ps3?(FullOnFrittata) You can not play the ps3 while remote play is in progress. When your are using remote play the ps3 screen says remote play is in progress or something like that. (millsjonah)
- What are the specs of the headset you get with the pre-order pack?
- If I buy the 3G version, will I have to get a contract with Vodafone (from UK). (Syko_Edis)
The specs such as wattage etc. for the headset have not been announced. The sim cards are carrier locked so you can only buy vodafone 3g. (millsjonah)
For those who still have backwards compatible PS3's, will you be able to play PS2 games (discs) through the Remote Play option? (Spyder12587)
Is it possible to share PS Vita save game (not the PSP one) across multiple accounts? I heard from somewhere that even though you can't transfer the actual game, save data can be copied. I own a physical game card of Uncharted, start playing it with my JP account and would like to transfer save data to continue playing on HK account as I make a switch.' (KnightBaron)
I want to buy monster hunter freedom unite on the store and play it on my vita is this possible? also will I be able to play the game over the internet with my friends in other countries since (if i understand correctly) the original game had no infrastructure mode (?) to do that. lastly will psp games support voice chat on the party chat app, i'd really like to use voice when playing monster hunter with my friends (Kane_1345)
Hey guys, I was looking for some clarification on how vita purchases are counted towards the system/download limits. To help me decide if I should buy Vita games online or not. My vita will only hold so many downloadable titles, and I have only a limited number of downloads right? To save on the download count could I copy these titles to my PS3? If I download or copy a PSV/PSP game on my PS3 does that count as one of my 2 system limits (therefore making me waste a lot of money if my vita dies)? Or would purchasing sevral Memory cards make sense? (Fei0x) You can copy the titles to PS3 and vice versa. And if you download it on the PS3 that does not count as a system for the PS vita games.(millsjonah)
How can I use my PS Vita as a ps3 Controller? (Nintendo3DSdude)You can not use the vita to control the PS3 but you can remote play some games. (millsjonah)
I managed to put a movie on my Vita from my PC.
Now I have watched it, how on earth do I delete/remove it from my Vita again?? thanks (stulec52)
You can connect it to the PS3, Mac or PC using content manager and delete if through there. (millsjonah)
I have the First Edition Bundle, and I was wondering if anyone was able to download apps such as Live Tweet or Facebook from the PSN? Here in Canada, the PSN doesn't show any apps to download, only protection plans. Will these apps apear after the 22nd launch? (Lt.Dman49) You should be able to download them as of today the 22 but if not they should be available very very shortly. (millsjonah)
What are the different states of the PS Button, and what do they mean? (For example charging = Orange) (John Wisdom)
Constant Blue
The PS Button will stay lit up blue, whilst the PS Vita is on and out of standby/sleep
Flashing Blue whilst turned on
A notification
Flashing blue whilst turned off / Frozen
Do a reset. Hold the power button down for 20-30 seconds until you see a black screen come up with some options. Choose the first option to restart the PS Vita, and this should hopefully fix the problem
Flashing Orange
Low battery. You won't be able to play whilst the light is flashing orange, as the battery is too low to play. Charge it. It will continue to flash orange, even when you have it on charge, until there is enough charge in the battery
Constant Orange
If you have your PS Vita on charge and it is glowing orange, this means it is charging. When the light is gone, it is fully charged.

Hey i bought the super stardust delta add-on bundle and every time i try to install it on my vita or copy it from my ps3 it gives me a error code (like c2-38083-7 or someting like that) and i was wondering if other people had this problem and have a solution. Thanks (Defenex) Quite a few people have run into this problem and I expect sony is working on a fix. (millsjonah)
which games work on remote play? (nintendo3DSDude)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Play#Games_and_Software_compatible_with_Remote_Play Is a wiki link to a list of games but keep in mind this might not be the full list so you will have to search for so games specifically. (millsjonah)
'Ignorant me, I wasn't aware Vita games would come on a ROM. I figured they'd be redeemable codes like some PSP games sold at retail. I kinda prefer to get the downloaded version instead so I don't have to carry ROMs around with me. 2-Parter: 1.) Is there any difference between the download version of Lumines: ES and the Vita Card version? 2.) If I've already opened, installed and played Lumines: ES, is the ROM now permanently attached to my PSN account? Or can I sell it and get the download version instead? (Sylin) There is no difference between cartridge and download except the download will load faster. And you can sell the cartridge but format the game card before you sell it because someone might not format it themselves and then wonder why they can't get trophies. (millsjonah'jh
Is cross platform gaming only available if you buy through the playstation store? I have a vita card but i can't figure out how to get the game on my ps3.
You only get both if you download off of the PS store. (millsjonah)
How is it possible to transfer ps vita saves to ps3 and vice versa for crossplay games? Specifically the story mode in Blazblue. (Dehaaninator2) You would connect the vita to the PS3 using the USB cable, then go the save file you want to copy. Click triangle, copy, and then click where you want to copy it to. (millsjonah)
'I have had a lot of confusion on this "buy once get both" thing, and all i want to know is, if I have WipeoutHD as a purchase on PSN, will I be able to get the digital copy of Wipeout2048 free, and if so, when? Or is all this just for future Vita games and DLC like Motorstorm RC ??'(Makattak28) No if you have wipeout HD it is free dlc for wipeout 2048. If you buy wipeout 2048 you will get PS3 and vita version free. For the full list of announced buy one get 2 games go to https://www.ign.com/wikis/ps-vita/Vita_and_PS3_games_bundled
Will I Ever Be Able To Watch YouTube? Why Can't I Get My Previously Purchased PSP Games On My VITA? Do You Know Anything About The Next Update? (XLR8WE)
I want to buy all of my Vita games as a hard copy and not on the PSN. Lets say I put in the card for Wipeout 2048, will that take up space on my 4gb memory card? (JreiterE) If you buy a hard copy of a game the only space it will take up is save data unless it can save the data directly onto the card like wipeout does. (millsjonah)
Can you have one PSN account tied to more than one Vita? Also, do you think the new SSX will come to Vita (Shewy59) You can have your account tied to 2 vitas and the new SSX will probabably not come to the vita. (millsjonah)
Will there be any comic book app for vita just like iphone and ipod touch ones? (danisoria93) There might be but there hasn't been any talk about it yet. (millsjonah)
i want to sell my ipod touch to gamestop to buy my vita but i was wondering if you can transfer your itunes songs to the vita through content manager hoping i can so i can get my vita soon thank you (treboy1991) You can but it is sort of complicated if you don't know what you're doing. First download a DRM media converter stripping the DRM off the music ( Digital Rights Management) then convert the songs to an MP3 file. Then use content manager to transfer to vita. (millsjonah)
Hi i was wondering if i could play online vs a ps3 an example will be my friend has a marvel vs capcom 3 (ps3) and i have marvel vs capcom 3 (vita) can i play vs him online? (EnIrEvLo) You can. (millsjonah)
When and how will we know Ps vita remote play will work? this was one of the features I was looking forward to use (danisoria93)
Don't know if you wrote a story about this or can't, but you should. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPrepSGkZeo&feature=g-all-u&context=G2d8920fFAAAAAAAACAA. I didn't know where else to put it, and it does work (TheSilverVince).
It will work now and you can connect to your ps3 by clicking on remote play and then private network (short range and less lag.) or over a wifi network. (both have to be connected to internet and it is for long range but there is more lag.) And if your ps3 is off you can turn it on your vita for remote play. (millsjonah)
I bought NBA 2K12 off of the store for my vita, I started a season several times and have saved the data, multiple times. When I go back to play it, and it successfuly loads the data, it does not allow me to continue the season, only starts a new one. Is this a known issue or am I doing something worng. (ajprice1016). It is probably corrupted data which can happen by turning off your vita or leaving nba while it is saving. Sorry you can't get your season back. (millsjonah)
Hi, I have one big question about the PS VITA! I just wanted to know if I have to buy the games for both the PS3 and the PS Vita. If you do, I think this is a total waste of money!!!! Please help me out!!!! THX!! =)
Some games will if you download them but not Physically. Go here for the list
Ok here's the deal if there is a game available on both platforms and it is under Vita/PS3 games in the PS store it is buy once and get both. But to let you know if you download motorstorm RC for free you will only get the vita version. And sometimes games aren't categorized under PS/vita games even though they are so go https://www.ign.com/wikis/ps-vita/Vita_and_PS3_games_bundled To see the full list. (millsjonah)
So I downloaded Dissidia Duodecim Prologus on my Vita and I wanna transfer it to my PSP, here's the problem though: I copied the the application and the saved data to my PC but I'm completely incapable of finding it. Do you know where to find data copied from the Vita to the PC? (GW2012)
You should try looking in the content manager app or recent files. (millsjonah)
I see people having success in getting PSP LBP on the Vita but when I try to download via the PS3, it is not detected on the Vita. Please help!!! (PSPDmon)
[Q] Can the Vita play PSN games? I have a PS+ subscription and have downloaded a bunch of the free (to subscribers) PSN games (eg. Shank 2). Are those playable on the Vita? (HellsChicken)
[Q] Why isn't youtube and AR games on all PSN stores across the globe? Also, why can't I switch accounts on my PS VITA so I can get the benefits of a U.S. account? (duder1235)
can you use two accounts on the PS Vita?
Q: Is there a way to have 2 PSN accounts on the ps vita? Like my main one and a US? I'm asking this to see if i can download apps that don't exist in my main PSN store. Oh and will the iFruit come to PS Vita? (mateuscmachado)
A: Yes. See this page How to Switch PSN Accounts on PlayStation Vita
