WIM also knowns as Windows Image Mapping is a software that is used for writing USB drives that are portable on servers for Windows 2008 and Windows 7. Therefore it isn't a difficult process to create a WIM file in Windows. It is also a software that is only supported by the newer versions of Microsoft Windows.

Step 1

Insert the USB drive into the USB port that is free on your computer.

Find the WIM file on your computer and click it twice.

Step 3

Click "ok" when the prompt comes up to overwrite the files on your USB drive.

Wait for the writing process to complete and then click "ok" when the prompt comes up. You now have a bootable USB drive.
