A yeast infection is caused by candida albicans, or candidiasis, a fungus that is normally present in you body but usually in small concentrations. The infection starts when the yeast starts proliferating. This infection is very uncomfortable as the yeast causes itching and burning. There are several remedies that you can find in your home to start combating the yeast infection immediately.

Use plain yogurt as a suppository to naturally cure your yeast infection. Yogurt contains lactobacillus acidophilus, which kills the candida. The best way to insert the yogurt into your vagina is by using the plastic tampon applicators. Fill them with yogurt and place them in the freezer. Once frozen, insert the yogurt. The cold yogurt will help soothe the burning caused by the yeast. A yogurt and water douche can also be used to treat the infection.

Insert a clove of garlic that has been peeled and wrapped in cheesecloth then tied off with a dental floss to effectively treat a yeast infection. The dental floss should be long enough to pull the clove out. This remedy is at its best when the clove can remain in position for several hours, therefore use it overnight. Repeat the treatment until the yeast infection is curbed.

Apply some tea tree oil onto a tampon and insert the tampon vaginally. Before applying the tree tea oil, apply a small amount of KY jelly to stop the oil from being absorbed into the tampon.

Make a douche using either 1 tsp. of hydrogen peroxide or 1 tbsp. of vinegar mixed with a cup of water. Use this douche once a day until your symptoms disappear.
