97catintenn
I'm looking at several surveys and using plines to quickly map it out and divide. But then to find the area in acres, I'm using a seperate calculator to convert the area given in the properties box. I've searched and found that there was lisp used before acad 2011. and was hoping that there maybe a way for acad to do it now. Can I just change the units from sq ft to acres in that field on the properties box in acad 2013?
Murph_map
No but you can use the quick calculator to get the conversion.
Dadgad
The dimensional unit reported in your properties will be derived from the data base units of your drawing. Metric drawings by default report in mms, either squared or cubic for area or volume reporting. You could create a FIELD quite easily which could calculate the conversion, and put it wherever you wanted it.
97catintenn
Thanks murph, I looked at the quick calc and didn't see acres. With the pic you posted, I realized that I had not check the unit type to area. Does FIELD only work for one object? I created a FIELD and selected the object and the next cmd asks me to select the object. I select my closed pline, then enter the value for the conversion and suffice acres. It calculated the acres correctly, but I don't see how to use that same field and select other closed plines and have it update the acres for me. land.dwg
Murph_map
Using fields you would need to select each polygon one by one, unless you are using Civil3D or Map3D you would need to run a lisp or some other add-on to label them automaticly in vanilla AutoCAD or Arch in your case. Any snow on that side of the state yet? We got a dusting last night in the Nashville area.
SLW210
Why doesn't your LISP work?
97catintenn
I need to find one (LISP) and see if it reacts like I want. Thanks for all the advice and getting me headed in the right direction. QuickCalc works well, it's just a few extra clicks. I select my polygon and quickcalc defaults length and meters. So, I'm switching back to area, sq ft to acres. I guessing the answer is going to be a LISP. Not much snow here. I saw you were either in KY or TN, and figured you must be in Clarksville, since it's right on the line. You would copy and paste the conversion for each field you place. After that any changes to the pline will be reflected in the field(s), hit regen for the update. 97catintenn
I found this one DDAREA that works pretty awesome. DDArea.lsp Found using search http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?22090-LISP-Converting-Sq-Ft-to-Acreage Just wanted to post the solution for future uses. Clarksville it is, and work is on Ft. Campbell.
